PFSweb, Inc. Founded
Born from a wholesale distributor of computer and office automation supplies, PFSweb, Inc. was founded by former CEO Mark Layton and was initially created to perform order processing, fulfillment, and call center services for retailers as the demand for outsourcing grew in the market.
In order to help our clients expand their geographic footprint, PFSweb established distribution and call centers in Liege, Belgium and Toronto, Canada. Our clients could now service their customers with a localized offering in these respective markets.
Initial Public Offering

End-to-End Solution Launched
PFSweb developed a new solution that combined the company’s experienced order management, order fulfillment, and call center services together with new eCommerce web development services to create a complete eCommerce solution to address the specific needs of clients and their customers.
Interactive Marketing Services Launched
PFSweb formally created a digital marketing department to help clients deploy email marketing, web analytics, and product merchandising services. This included partnerships with specific best-in-breed marketing technology providers.
Michael Willoughby Named CEO
Previously the Vice President of eCommerce and President of PFSweb, Michael (Mike) Willoughby was named CEO in 2013. Mike’s extensive background in technology and unrivaled company tenure made him the perfect fit to lead PFSweb.
Acquisition of REV Solutions, Inc.
PFSweb acquired REV, an eCommerce systems integrator based in Minnesota, to enhance the company’s technology service offering, accelerating growth within the professional services segment. REV not only expanded our Demandware development capabilities but also added Oracle Commerce to our family of offerings.
Acquisition of LiveAreaLabs
PFSweb acquired LiveAreaLabs, a digital creative agency based in Seattle, broadening the company’s agency capabilities to support our legacy of digital marketing capabilities. This included strategy, creative, and UX design offerings. Now branded as LiveArea, our in-house agency can deliver premium shopping experiences for clients.
Acquisition of MODA
PFSweb acquired MODA, a London-based eCommerce systems integrator, further enhancing our technology and agency services offerings for the U.K. market. MODA expanded our Demandware development capabilities and added Magento to our technology offerings.
Acquisition of CrossView
PFSweb acquired CrossView, an eCommerce systems integrator and strategy firm, enhancing our technology service offering by adding IBM Commerce and SAP Hybris practices to the business. This acquisition solidified our position in the marketplace as the only provider of end-to-end eCommerce technology solutions that supports all five major eCommerce software platforms.
Consulting Practice Launched
PFSweb announced the development of a Strategic Commerce Consulting practice specifically designed to engage with our clients more strategically and much earlier in their commerce journey. These new services for both B2B and B2C brands are designed to help clients realize their business’ full digital potential.
Acquisition of Conexus
PFSweb acquired Conexus, a U.K. based eCommerce systems integrator, to enhance our technology service offering on the SAP Hybris software platform. Similar to the MODA acquisition, Conexus' strong footprint in the U.K. further solidifies our status as a leading SAP Hybris integrator.
In September 2016, PFSweb began rolling out a brand refresh for our operations and professional services brands. Now, we are simply known as “PFS” and “LiveArea,” respectively, with new logos to match our savvy, forward-thinking offerings. We compete in multiple segments of commerce with a variety of solutions and services.
